Sand, sea, sun and airplanes...perfect vacation spot
Nice Picture! Sadly this aircraft has suffered major damage in a runway overrun accident on 30 July, 2011 in Guyana.
5 stars for getting our SXM attention back where it belongs - on an airplane and not on the tourists!
That's why offering hearing-aids at Sunset Bar might be profitable. Technically, it's all been said before - extremely low way of takin'-off considering the length of the runway. Brilliant capture!
Great picture, stupid pilot. He was obviously showing off. Even with one engine out at V1 it's supposed to get 35 ft at the opposite threshold and for what I see, he was below that when he passed it. I flew the type and with both engines running you should be way above that.
Most likely very high density altitude hot humid and if there was said to be a tailwind this is about as bad as it gets. however if the wind was calm it would make more sense to take-off toward the sea rather than toward the slopes. you cant also forget the possibility of a minor microburst:)
Ahhhh memories | |
Its not because I'm from Trinidad, but I highly doubt any airline pilot will "showboat" with their fully laden airliner.... definitely not my first thought (And I wouldn't dare to second-guess the skippers decision) Judging by the time of day, this is most likely "Caribbean 416" to KIN/MKJP. A RW28 departure (most likely as a result of calm winds)straight out makes a lot of sense where they'll pick up the B520 to their first waypoint.... or maybe even DIRECT ANTEX. Flaps 5 is standard company procedure for Caribbean airlines, and this is probably a result of "Precise Calculation" and a very high Assumed temperature (This takeoff is an airline accountant's wet dream)...besides the 737-800 is no performance miracle off the deck anyway.
Haha and somehow they manage to get 744s out of SXM...
Very beautiful view! | |
Good show, BW! Hummingbird, flutter those wings. ;)
Great Shot!!!...never seen such a low departure out of runway 28...amazing!!
Caribbean Airlines shows how it's done!!
A difficult shot to capture well. You captured it very well! I've photographed the DL B-737-700 taking off on Rwy 28 at SXM. The -700 has better performance than the heavier -800 but they are not going quite as far to POS versus ATL. Pilot error, probably not. Showboating maybe. Also consider that the tailwind component on a Rwy 28 departure will lengthen the take off roll. Great picture!
Yikes! | |
Caribbean Airlines!! the best flights to POS
I think he is landing backwards
Great photo obviously, but imagine an engine failure at V1!
Whoa! That's just way too intense! Too late on rotation, way too late. That would be so LOUD. Looks like he's using flaps 5... V-speed miscalculation...?
I'm must be there some day. Great shot mate!
Very rare that this aircraft needs this much of an airstrip. great shot!
"What a capture! But this is, as others stated, probably pilot error.....:" Or maby he did it on purpose ;)
Great picture!! What a beach eh?
Just Great | |
Nie picture, but I doubt pilot error. He's doing it on purpose!
Photo great, captain....NOT. I fly this model airplane - doesn't really matter - but I will tell you that we all think this kind of thing is cool until that fence gets clipped by the main gear and flies onto the beach killing a couple tourists. All for the sake of showboating. Ego gets pilots in trouble. No room for it in this business.
Nice shot, but those pilots were really cutting it too close there. I dont want to say they were being careless, but...they really shouldn't be pulling stunts like that
Amazing, If this was a reported incident then yes pilot error but if not it was the pilot entertaining the crowd!
What a capture! But this is, as others stated, probably pilot error. A 738 could have easily been at over 200 AGL if not more with that runway length.
Wonderfull, this is just sick. Such a low pass must be thrilling to see and so painfull to hear.
I think he rotated really late...
Unbeleveable! During takeoff!? Wow!
Wow man, very nice, this is the first picture I see for a take off from this side of the runway, we always see landings. great shot!!
An amazing photo! Very unusual, but interesting and awesome!
Dramatic.. This is definitely pilot error. Either to low thrust setting or to little flaps.. nice catch nontheless!
That's just so sick.. If I were there a month earlier I'd be right under it! I've seen A330's A320's and 737's depart over the beach, but never so low! Awesome. I know how hard it is to capture this the right way!! Congrats.
Very unusual picture from SXM using this QFU! Too bas it was not a 747, jet blast would for sure kick this people away!
That is a crazy photo!!!
