The reason it has four engines are; 1. To avoid ETOPS hassles. 2. Because higher thrust engines ala 777-300ER weren't available for the 346 at the time it was built, if it were to go with two engines, there wouldn't have been enough thrust for its weight.
This photo clearly explains why Airbus A340-600 is my favorite plane!!!!!!!!!
Incredible shot, huge wingspan. But i dont like the thick blue line on the nose of the plane, it makes it look like it hsa got a moustache!!!
Really Clear Details. Neat.
Definitely impressive.
WOW, terrific shot taken there. Now if the wingspan of the A340 is this wide, then what would be the wingspan of the A380?? The A380 would be a titanic of the skies. Now all we need is an exact picture like this of the A380. Good picture. Very clear on a clear bright sunny day
Looks like it´s tellin you: "What are you lookin´ at?" ;) Impressive A340 in Cathay colors. T.B.
Those are not Trent 895s but are Trent 500s. And yes, the aircraft really does need 4 engines, to achieve the necessary safe flight performance. The engineers didn't just add them for the fun of it!
That really is a very impressive photograph. Your timing is certainly spot on to give us perspective down the fuselage along with some light touching the inside of those fantastic looking engines! Lovely shot mate! SN
Great background setting for this gorgeous aircraft. Vive la A340!
Yes the plain need 4 of these engines. the 777er has two 500kN engines. i think these engines are between 250kN and 300kN.
It needs the four engines for its speed and range, with two it is an a330 because the 30 and 40 are built on almost the same fuselage. they are both long range wide body but this 40 has much better range... GREAT STUFF NORBERT!!
It looks like it´s tellin you: "What are you lookin´ at?" Sooooo angry. T.B.
Now that you've seen the wingspan, imagine the body ... :] Great shot!
Brilliant | |
Fantastic view! | |
Nice pic, does that plane or any a340 really need four engines?
Absolutely beautiful! Look at those engines and wingspan
Great capture of the wingspan!
The wing-span captured in the photo is beyond awesome.
I love those trent 895 engines, they are so much better than the hair dryers or the 200/300 versions
Great!! | |
The wingspan is so large it almost looks downright silly! its like 100 yards wide!
Fantastic shot mate, nice plane, stunning quality and a lovely airport with the river. C.F.
Clarity and positioning to capture a taxiing Airbus. It certainly captures the wingspan of the aircraft. It brings to mind the "How does it get off the ground?" sort of question.
