A striped paint B747 fuselage saves several hundred pounds of weight that could be use as extra payload. Paint is quite heavy and it is estimated that keeping an extra 2 lbs of paint on a B747 increase operations costs by as much as $1000 / year! No wonder why more and more airlines use "silver bullets" in their cargo fleet. And Boeing is studying how they could save weight the same way on their future Dreamliner engines.

Oh, yuck.
I mean, it's a great picture. But an atrocious livery.
I'd prefer to continue to look down on the bare-metal look as this north-Texas thing.
