B-HOR (cn 24631/771) Ah, the first day of winter, or to be exact... the winter solstice. Wednesday the 21st of December was a busy weekday around LAX. As you can see, the traffic is jammed all the way back past 24R. Something we don't normally see on the weekends. The fact that Christmas was a mere 4 days away also played a role in the hustle and bustle. Wintertime here in So Cal is the wet season so everything is usually green with blue skies. You got to love it!

LAX: Los Angeles International Airport by member September11
In 1928, the Los Angeles City Council selected 640 acres in the southern part of Westchester as the site of a new airport for the city. The fields of wheat, barley and lima beans were converted into dirt landing strips without any terminal buildings.
