Does look somewhat claustrophobic, indeed. German visitor: not sure how it is on CX but on AC there's an airbag on the side of the seat belt. How effective it is on light impact, I don't know as fortunately I've had safe landings so far. :-)

This looks extremely claustrophobic while providing little privacy with the tall European's head sticking out over the counter.

I wouldn't like to sit in those seats with that configuration. I too would like to look out of the window if I had a window seat, regardless of the price.

Why oh why do some airlines insist on facing their first class seats away from the window? If I'm going to pay those sort of prices, I want to view at the very least.

Herring bone config sounds good, and is in fact a herring can configuration, with some dangers included, because the usual lap seat belt has much less effect sideways versus the conventional direction.
