I owned this aircraft from the early 1980's until about 1990. On october 09 1982, this good old bird and i suffered a mid-air collision with a cessna 172 near windermere british columbia. The 172 hit us on the right wind from behind, and took the end off the wing of from about the middle of the aileron out. the right was bent down on a 45 degree angle from the leading edge near the strut to the outboard end of the flap. she barely flew, but she took me and my passenger back to the invermere airport. starting in early january 1983, a buddy and i rebuilt her complete with a splice in the spar of the right wind approved by a loca major rbuild shop. we then painted her as she appears today. A few years later, i installed a replacement engine, not zero time, but very low time. i have some wonderful memories of this old friend. rob mccaghren - calgary alberta canada | |
