A visitor from United States posted Wed July 1, 2009: These guys are lucky! I say that because several years ago, a Cessna Citation crashed on takeoff from Van Nuys, due to an open cargo door as I recall...some a.net members will remember this I'm sure...
A visitor from United States posted Wed July 1, 2009: This same situation caused a crash at VNY a few years back when the baggage door opened and luggage was ingested into one of the engines on departure. Glad this one made it back intact.
A visitor from Austria posted Wed June 24, 2009: You know what, i know the F/O. It was not their fault, it was a material fault in the closing mechanism. They made it safe home, but it is still a very funny story to tell.

The same thing happened to my friend's CJ but there was debris that came out and hit the engine/tail section. He crashed shortly after takeoff from VNY along with the other pilot. I'm glad the outcome of this was one was good, though!
