Two F-5s high over the Magellan Strait, showing that even highly trained and professional pilots never forget how much fun flying is! This happens to be my picture number 4,000 on A.net, so a big Thank You to all who have helped to make this possible, in particular to my family and friends, the A.net crew and all the visitors who have been clicking on my pictures [Canon 7D + EF 24-105 mm f/4L USM].

Hi All, many thanks for the nice comments! I have also had quite a few questions regarding the authenticity of the picture. Well, I took it so I know it’s not fake! In any case, just look at the pilot of the further away F-5, he is looking very concentrated on the other (nearer) plane, and he is starting to bank away after he closed in as much as he felt it was still safe. You can also compare the lighting on the planes, it is all consistent (see sunlight on bottom of fuel tank on inverted F-5). Just remember, this was carefully planned and briefed with all involved, thus this is not a last-minute stunt! Those pilots are highly trained professionals, they do not take unnecessary risks.
