The gears are retracted once positive rate of climb is achieved which is greater than 1000 feet per minute...He must have achieved that...anyway, great photo!

This photo captures the unique moment of landing gear retreat. The way Tu-154 does it is unique and, according to excellently informed sources, at the time caused much envy even in some quarters in Seattle. A fantastic airplane which is now getting off the scene only because of fuel-inefficient engines.

Quite agree with the visitor from the UK. It seems the Tu154 pilot is retracting wheels like a fighter plane (just after take off)(Ali Aminzadeh)

Powerful and strong scheme.

Great shot. Undercarriage appears to have been retracted very early for an airliner.
