This happened on the final leg of a student charter flight SFO/HNL/HND/TPE/HKG. It landed in that July morning like a rocket ship and promptly overran runway 13. We were very lucky that Kai Tek was under expension at the time including the lengthening of the runway, otherwise we would've been in the water. Almost twenty years later in 1994 a near brand new China Airlines B747-400 did the same only this time it did go swimming and was written off by the airline.

Spectacular views of aircraft "stuck" on ground. In most situations aircraft are severly damaged when aircraft overrun or skid off runway.
