A visitor from - posted Tue June 30, 2009: I used to overhaul A320 flight-decks and the switches get filthy from being touched all the time. We always took great care to finalize our overhaul by cleaning as much as we had time for. It's probably a good idea for pilots to wear gloves. It would tend to keep the flight deck more sanitary throughout it's daily utilization hours. Typical daily usage is 8, 9 or 10 hours a day or more. That's a LOT of fingers on the switchology. As a taxi mechanic I always prefered nitrile gloves. They are very natural feeling and keep skin oils from contaminating the various surfaces.
