The sensation of speed that is achieved via the blurred backround is very cool, yet the aircraft is in remarkably good focus, great work!!!! Gotta love the livery too, nice peice of history on this classic old 7-Oh. Can anyone explain the purpose of the fin on the lower aft fuselage????????

A great picture of the at that time modern aircraft. You can feel the speed and the thunder of the thrust reversers as it slows down.
The fixed ventral fin was mounted on early B707s for directional stability and might be added to solve issues of the Dash 80 Prototype, which tail fin was 3,5 ft shorter.

774 was one of the original CAL 707s, a wonderful water-methanol beast whose ventral fin was for lateral control and to prevent damage due to over rotation!
