[Canon 1D Mark III + Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8 L] Copa was responsible for 2 very memorable moments during my trip to St. Maarten. This 737-700 hovered at around 50 feet to the end of the runway before blasting upwards over Maho Beach. In this photo, you can see the landing gear is almost completely stowed very low to the ground, and the runway piano keys are reflecting off the belly of the aircraft.

Great shot! With the gear coming up and still close to the ground, there is real motion in the photo.

Awesome!...there's clearly no need for this maneuver, therefore he must have been showing off...very cool!!

That's fantastic! The Copa approach photo was one of the lowest I have ever seen into SXM, and it looks like the same pilots wanted to thrill the beachgoers as they left for home too!

Captured the most beautiful moment in air, when the gear is half drawn-in. Very nice!

Beautiful! Must be heavy load if she was air on the last meters of runway.

Actually, I shouldn't say hover, I should say Harrier-like VTOL departure! Cary owns stock in Copa :P

My daughter liked this and thought it was cool, I liked it because we used to look after the old copa 737-200 at luton england back in the 80,s with britannia airways.

Yeah... looks great but not very professional. I'd like to see a pic of Lufthansa pilots doing this... good luck finding one. But a great shot nonetheless, I have to admit it looks awesome.
