N621DL (cn 22911/112) N621DL followed by LOT's SP-LPF, then a Lufthansa A340, an Aer Lingus A330 and so goes the line up. Also tucked back there is a 747 and the DL MD-80 can be seen in the distance. But you are only viewing a portion of the queue line which loops around the runway and back around JFK's terminals. The dog days of summer at JFK with the Empire State Building in the distance. The culprit? Weather delays have plagued the tri-state area this evening.

Really nice picture. It's awesome to see how many planes there are "waiting" to take off :).

A visitor from United States posted Sun September 13, 2009:
I wonder how many pounds of thrust could be put out by all of those engines!

A visitor from Germany posted Sun September 13, 2009:
We waited around one and a half hour for take off this summer in JFK. This is what it must have been looked like.

Incredible composition that combine interesting perspective with grace and power of these jet airliners. A poster for civil aviation lovers.

I would be pissed off I were a passenger on the last plane in that line.

By the way, the line up is weird: First, a small 752. Then a bigger 763. Then a bigger and longer A346. Then it becomes smaller with the EI A333. And so on.

Good photo.

Maybe they New York Port Authority should change the law, LaGuardia Airport should allow some transatlantic flights to solve the congestion problem.

A visitor from India posted Sat May 9, 2009:
I doubt the pilot of the Delta Airlines 757 even knows that there are so many planes behind him/her!

Very good pic illustrating how busy JFK is :)
By the way - "N621DL followed by LOT's SP-LPF" - Boeing 752 Delta Air Lines reg N621DL is Followed by LOT Boeing 767 so it means that LOT aircraft is taxiing behind Delta, is the 2nd in row :]

Incredible capture with the 757 shining against the bleak background

A visitor from United States posted Tue July 29, 2008:
After the 757-200,767, there is an A340.

A visitor from United States posted Tue July 29, 2008:
I think that A330 is an Aer Lingus.

A visitor from Italy posted Mon July 28, 2008:
Very good shot. But I guess LOT's 767 is the 2nd one in row. Can we identify the 1st one?
