Dramatical moment in Hamburg. N172DN is ready for take-off to ATL on rwy 33 when the right main gear bursts into the wing and the belly crashes onto the runway. The aircaft was filled up with fuel and it was great luck that this accident did not cause an explosion.

And lucky the gear didn't collapse on landing at ATL. Great Photo. Really Captures the moment.

Indeed a great picture capturing a dramatic moment. Good thing is now they'll finally have to paint the bird! That CS is one of the most dated and bad looking ones of any US airline.

I strongly disagree with the visitor from Sweden. That color scheme is one of the most beautiful in the US--to this date!

I agree with both of you. The color scheme looks retro even if it is not intended to do so. But it looks good :-)

Hey, I grew up with this livery. It's beautiful. Delta wore it exactly from 1959 to 2004. It went thru some minor modifications (1959: Bold DELTA AIRLINES, 1980 Italic DELTA). In 2004, an A-net user found the last widget 767 at a gate.
