This brings back memories, while working at ohare for delta on the ramp at the time, it could have been both a day and flight worked. in regard to aircraft type, it is a dc8-61. 871 refers to the ship number that delta assigned for internal use. all delta aircraft carry a 3 digit number on the nose wheel doors and on the tail.

In regards to visitor from the Netherlands 871 is aircraft registration Delta used for internal purposes, all Delta aircraft use a company 3 digit numbering system to indentify individual planes. At the time of of the DC8 they 800 series numbers. From a retired Delta employee

I was working for Delta at Ohare, on the ramp, at around the time this photo was taken. It could have been very well a particular flight assigned to my gate. It really brings back memories over of 30 years ago. Great action action shot!
