 A visitor from - posted Mon February 13, 2012:The green light should be a indication that this APU is turn on. (Not running.) See if your colleague is in the cockpit, and you are behind the APU doing some work, you would certainly like to know whether this APU is on and ready to ignite. | |

The APU wouldn't normally be operated during the flight, the main engine generators provide more than enough power (and heat!). The inlet for the APU is through a small hatch positioned on top of the fuselage next to the base of the tail fin. | |
 A visitor from United States posted Wed April 28, 2010:I think that green light is actually a laser for defeating portable surface to air missiles. It would make sense since the APU releases heat and the missile could possible lock onto the heat signature. But then again I may be wrong though. | |
