In case of get to know the reg, I once read the comment of a photo here, and I guess the pilots were asking the controller for the plane. And due to the matter of fact that every plane is in contact with some controller it´s in my opinion quite possible to ask them for the frequemcy of another aircraft to get their reg. Or just ask the controller. Please correct me if I told smth wrong here. (Germany)
