Someone just flushed the toilet!
Absolutely stunning masterful by Giovanni Carrettoni
Stunning photo. very impressive!
Fantastic. This is a great plane for the forest fires in big countries as USA or Canada. But for countries us Spain, it is not practical. Some years ago the option of use this planes in our forest fires was considered and discardted. Canadier are better for our requeriments. I am forest engineer...
Very good for taking a shower !!!!!
Should have used this to fight those fires in Northern Ontario! Excellent shot 5 stars!
Sensational photo showing a very noble use of aviation
This image has a visual 3d effect...i would have captioned it: "the 747's water just broke"
A very good view! Congratulations
It is an obvious demonstration of "thinking out of the box." What a way to water ones back yard.
One of the most exciting things you can do witha 74!
Well if there is more than one of them then the time to fill is irrelevant as the others can be putting water on the fire while the others are filling. Not sure what the other tankers hold but 20K gallons is alot of water!
Very impressive and technical prowess, but I'm skeptical about the finality of this monster: How long to fill the water tanks, wich load factors apply, maneuverability ? (We have in France example of two Dash-8 conditionned: Pilots prefers CL-415 or Fire-Cat !!!) ...Probably OK for fires on flats territories, but I can't imagine this water bomber on moutains of South of Europe during summer fires ...
Holy cow! Good one! | |
This is an excellent capture. Very sharp and no errors. Excellent again!
They just had one of these in operation for the Crown fire here in Los Angeles. They were showing it performing low level passes only a few hundred feet above the ground during it's water drop. It was surreal watching it.
Nice to see this veteran still going strong !
To the dutch poster: They have to fill it up "manually" on the ground. Takes ages, one of the reasons why seeing this big waterbomber in real actions is an unlikely scenario. What I'm interested in: Why on earth did they perform at Hahn Airport?? Was there some kind of Airshow? Never seem to have heard of anything..
I would guess it's filled with a pipe at the aircraft's base, which would mean quantity versus rotation rate. In France, I think the smaller planes with retardant are filled that way, ready to take off to slow down the fire, until canadairs come in action (with less water than this evergreen jumbo, but a much higher rotation rate and precision).
I was just thinking, how the hell do they get the water in this jumbo i dint think they'll skid over the water like a canadair can anyone explain?
This is so much water! | |
A buddy of mine is a forest fire fighter and was on the receiving end of an Evergreen jumbo jet deluge. Classic thundering aluminum overcast with the contents of a large swimming pool blasting down on your butt from above! Large compressed air tanks push out the water. Hunker down boys here she comes!
Just have to make it buoyant and maneuvering ...
I wasn't aware that anyone had converted a 747 into a waterdrop tanker, and imagine it has a large volume, heavy load capacity.
Regarding the weight; max load is just shy of 20,000 gallons (if I remember correctly). With this volume of water, T/O weight is still well below max for the 747-200.
1 in a million shot. Never seen this before. Just imagine the weight of this aircraft! Very nice Rainer as usual.
Never though possible, a 747 as a Water Bomber. Great shot!
Astounding | |
Is very, very good. | |
Whats going on with this plane? Last I heard Evergreen could not get approval to fight fires with this plane in the US.
Couldn't imagine this one on a European wild fire. As a matter of fact can hardly imagine it anywhere fighting a fire, unless in a flat deserted area, like the Sahara, which unfortunately laks the timber
Imagine de weight!!!!! 5*
Epic shot | |
