VH-USU (cn SCA-28) Replica of Kingsford-Smith's Fokker "Southern Cross". Built by Famous Australian Aircraft at Parafield, SA. Regd 3 Jun 1987, first flight Aug 1987. On around-Australia fund-raising tour for Royal Flying Doctor Service (seen in their hangar), and to commemorate Smithy's famous 1928 trans-Pacific flight. Powered by three 300hp Jacobs R-755A2 (original had 220hp Wright J-5s). Endurance 7 hrs at 90kts. Wheels from EE Canberra. Damaged 25.5.02 Parafield, right wheel fell off - aircraft damaged whilst landing.
