A visitor from United States posted Sat May 27, 2006: I think that the MD-11's and DC-10's make the hardest landings because they're heavier in the tail because of the engine on the tail. It tends to make the back of the aircraft come down hard and that is also why the there is a center main gear.

A visitor from Canada posted Sat May 27, 2006: Looking at this picture and the one taken just before http://www.airliners.net/open.file/1045397/M/ one might wonder (just might) if someone wasn't resting a little on the brakes at the time of touch down. Capt to F/O "hey, ya wanna see a smoky landing?". :p Mind you to someone out there who knows nothing of about aircraft, you could quote this as the guys were just trying to "get out of Dodge" in a hurry as in "laying rubber" which we all know is impossible on take off unless you lock up the brakes and why you would do that is beyond me. :) Right time, great lighting, excellent shot!
