This is not a photo.. This is a Art!!

A visitor from - posted Sat June 7, 2014:
This is perhaps the best photo I've seen on here, since viewing photos for many years. It's phenomenally complete; the landscape, lighting, atmospheric effects, and timing. Notice the snow to the sides of the runway (immediately behind the aircraft), follows the pattern of the visible vortices (from flaps) directly above. Fantastic, well done!

Mikko, thanks for braving the cold and giving us this gem of a photo! There is not enough stars to be given for this shot. ***** Wayne C.

A truly unique photo! The light and composition are peerless. I love the fact that you pressed the shutter a second before touch-down so you can see the shadow of the landing gear on the runway. It would have been tempting to wait for the trye smoke. Fantastic!

This has my vote for all time best photo on Airliners.net. LOOK at it. It has everything from the wake vortex to the ground effect blowing the snow at the sides of the runway. And look at the Sun sitting on top of that antenna. It looks like the plane landed just as an atom bomb went off at White Sands.

A visitor from - posted Tue February 14, 2012:
Can anyone tell me where the Ten Stars button is? I don't see it on the page. Surely Airliners.net has a ten stars button for photos of this caliber, right?

There are only few hours on few days in a year the sun sets aligned with that runway. This year those days were -20C and windy! That the day happened to be not cloudy _and_ a MD-11 was making a landing in the suns direction is the planespotters (fully deserved!) jackpot!

Mikko the image you captured is true art. The more I look at it the more I see for the first time.

A visitor from United States posted Thu March 4, 2010:
To me the landscape looks liquid. The effect of the snow at the runways' edge is awesome, you can see right where the displaced air is located. Beautifully done!

What a magical storybook image. The snow being blown from the runway edges, the votices, the shadow of the aircraft, the colours, just incredible.

A visitor from - posted Thu March 4, 2010:
This photo cannot illustrate any better why you do not want to fly immediately behind a plane like this with a much smaller airplane. Having a golden sun as the background is stunning in and of itself, but then the wingtip vortices add the ultimate icing on the cake! Even the angle of the shot makes this one special, especially seeing that the nose gear is about a couple of feet from the center line. This shot ranks in my top 5 for sure!
