Absolutely breathtaking... who would have thought you could make such an ordinary turboprop look so artistic and powerful? The light makes it look like a rocket!

PUSHING THE LIMITS!

That's the stuff this site needs, that's not point and shoot!!! That's excellent imagining and planning!

Fantastic Martin! Well done!

Definately one of the, if not the best photos I have seen on this site. With the long exposure of the stars and the trails, with the 2nd curtain flash to stop the plane. Ingenious, but very effective!

Congrats on an Awesome Photo!

I've seen long exposure shots many times. There are hundreds of wide angle photos. But i don't remember seeing a single shot that combines those tricks and this image quality. The definition in impressive and a proof of that is the clarity of the green and red lights. Simply amazing.

This is potentially the greatest photo I have seen on this site from a "photographer" perspective. Brilliant use of light and motion. I am assuming this was taken with a wide-angle lens, with a long exposure, and then a flash at the end. Am I right? I would love to know the mechanics of how this shot was taken.

The best shot I've seen here! I have a pretty good idea how it's made, but difference between knowing and doing is what makes a great photographer! Congratulation Martin!

This is a unique shot. I have never seen a twilight flight take-off captured liked this. I like the clarity of the ground, the plane centered between steel tower posts, the orange reflected sky, the stars twinkling above it, the solid streaking wing lights of the aircraft. It's very creative photos. Kudos to the photographer.

This is such a amazing photo. Love the whole sky and lights. Reminds me of when I went to Idaho and saw really orange sky.

My Dad is a photo editor and was amazed as well!

Kudos to you Martin. This shot is absolutely amazing, very detailed you could still see the stars and nice contrasts and I reallly liked the way you framed the plane between the posts nice composition too. Hope to see more of your works.

I'ts me again, i forgot to mention too that it kinda reminds me of old airline ads during the connie era. The manner how the plane was shot here would be perfect with those kind of ads , with the stars in the background , it's simply perfect.

Just surfin - came across this brilliant shot, wonderful use of time of day, previsualisation, exposure (20 secs?) and best of all great composition. I teach photography at a local college but would aspire to producing a shot like this. well done!

My guess is:a fairly long time exposure on a calm nigh since the clouds appear to be almost stationary, followed by a burst from an extremely strong strobe as the aircraft passes overhead. Other than that, quite a bit of Photoshop... In either case some patience is required ! A most pleasant image !
