Hydro-plane-ing! | |
Lots of fun! | |
Waaaalk on the water!! ♫
To the visitor from USA who thinks it looks stupid, both the Loganair Otters go into the hangar very regularly, nearly every day infact, and get washed down and inspected...so not stupid, clever and safe operations I would say!
What I like about this is that I'm so consumed by just seeing the Mundane Landings at Manchester that are by the book normal landings and in a normal environment that this just looks brilliant and makes you realise what these planes can get up too away from the base, or at least in the terms of the Dash 8 when BA used to own them, I saw one landing on a UK beach! :o)
Cool, So is this a flying boat, a Flying car, or a boat with wings!
An incredible airport | |
Loganair have been flying to and from Barra for years, it's a beach on an island so there is a very very small chance of anything being under the water. Furthermore Barra Airport is open subject to tides obviously! Fantastic photo though, I have to take that flight one day.
Awesome photo! Salt water isn't that bad for the airplanes - Check out Westcoast Air, they operate in the saltwater ALL the time!
Lots of imaginarium comes to my mind with this pic! OMG! -invisible floats, what if there
Being an otter, it should be used to water
Seems those houses is good place to live: fresh sea air and possibility to spot planes right from home.
Looks stupid...who knows what's under the water. Salt water is terrible for the props and paint, too. Hope they gave this A/C a good inspection after the flight.
I think there's a connection between the fact, that this bird is walking on water baretyred and its construction number... Don't underestimate it! :o)
Looks cool. I was almost thinking that planes can walk on water...its a new thing eh?
I love the Loganair Twin Otters, and Barra!
Shows the full contrast between the land, the sea and the runway at the world's only beach airport. A flight every one should make.
It's a beach guys- there's about 6 inches of water on it- no passengers are going to get harmed!
Nice unusual photo of a land based plane operating in a float plane's environment!
Makes me really wanna "be there"...
Its been taking off and landing on the beach (which is the airport at barra) for nearly 20 odd years now its not just a once off thing
This is a scheduled airline flight operated by Loganair on behalf of Flybe! Would love to do it some time.....
When I first saw it on the thumbnail, at first I thought the A/C is going to go for a ditch.
You know, around here we just put floats on the Twin Otters
The thumbnail definitely piqued my interest, and im glad it did...
Awesome! | |
Opppsss sorry it's take-off rather. my fault.
Jesus plane. LOL. | |
The airplane of Jesus! | |
At first I thought it was going for a disaster. What a great landing, semi aqua-terra landing.
Time to break out the floats?
That looks incredibly hazardous! I can only hope that no passengers' lives were put at risk.
