A very rare, very clear, and very odd shot...

Wow, the first airplane with an embedded clothes horse! 5* for the rarity of the shot

I'm with the guy who says it's an accident waiting to happen! Strangest "contraption" I've ever seen....

Turbo prop C-47s have been used for this purpose as well. There is a photo in the data base of one, ZS-ASN.

This photo reminds me of an early attempt to give stealth to an airframe: there was a modification to the Lockheed U2 that made it appear "wired like a guitar". I wonder if anyone has a photograph of this mod?

Circus airplane.

The individual cables appear to be connected on spacers, so if one or two went the others would hold them more or less in place. Wouldn't help if a birdstrike or something similar took out all the cables on one side though - I assume there must be some kind of jettison system which keeps them clear of the props...

That is, quite possibly, the most dangerous looking "accident waiting to happen" I have ever seen. I hope that when one of the array wires breaks, it does so aft of the wingtip! Otherwise...

Now that's different! As an Avionics tech that looks pretty interesting.
