What a precise timing ! | |
Angry Birds ! | |
Amazing timing. RIP birds. Nice to hear incident ended well.
Poor Birds :-((( | |
So sad! Poor birdies! | |
Perfect shot. Blood is starting to build up on the wing. This is a one in a million - not only because of the birds. But look at the co-pilot enjoying the view. A split second after this shot was taken, he had lots of other things to think about.
This is a horrendous picture.. 737 is a massive killer herein
When your rifles just don't do the job, bring the 737 in!
Poor birds... | |
I see blood....... | |
Great pic!! nice to see less starlings corrupting our air space but unfortunatly it was to the safety and cleanliness of this boeing.... I would say those CFM 56 are bird ingestion certified!!!
Not to offend anyone but a new movie idea "Bird Strike massacre!"
This is a shot of a lifetime, very good for instruction purposes too. However, I would not want to have been at the stick during this one.
Amazing photo, thankfully no one was hurt... poor birds though...
So Lucky! | |
Omg, you can actually see the blood and everything. That's a bird massacre..........kinda cool. i feel bad for the people who have to clean that.I still cant get over the fact that these birds inner body working are now on the outside......
Five stars? Sure, but next time please don't release the birds directly next to the runway when a plane flies by!
Look at the face of the first officer.
Keep that plane away from me because it kills little birdies but in whole, great shot... you got that timing bang on!
Introduding...the Cusinart Model CFM-56
Great Pic! Unbelievable timing! NICE! Fotunatly the bird's were not so big. :-)
Planes need bird avoiding systems or birds need plane avoiding systems but I think the second one makes more sense. :)
Nice! | |
Photographer was in the right place at the right moment.
Great timing, great shot!!
Look at the co pilots face he is a bit shocked to say the least. at least thay got down onto solid ground safely good fortune was with them this day
Wow 200 starlings is a whole lot of birds. It's good that it safely landed. Great timing though.
Poor little birdies.... :)
This is an amazing moment to capture veyr good shot
Natures vacuum cleaner.
Great picture | |
Just no words. Amazing foto and a happy end.
Pure chaos | |
A Pilots nightmare. The thumps , bumps and engine warnings sure make you sit up and take notice. You can see numerous areas on the Boeing with impact marks from the birds. You were definitely at the right place and at the right time. Excellent shot Stefan, Thanks for sharing this.
I wonder if birds think the same was as some people do when they're at a railroad crossing with an oncoming train: "Oh, it's far away, we'll make it!"
Damn son, look at the emissions from the engine... bird dinner tonight :P
Enemy Squadron in Action
Any pic of the runway after impact. Must looked like war :-)
Today's menu: Nuggets.
Cool Shot Thanks dear Stefan for sharing ! Iman-IranianSpotters
Unique shot! | |
Oh my goodness! | |
Five Stars Picture... indeed a great shot. Maybe sometimes its not good to be "free as a bird".
Five stars? Of course! Even more, I suppose this shot is going to be photo of the year :-)
What a great picture!the face of the First Officer is great! He is so calm and looking at the camera, it's so great...
Fantastic Pic! Right photographer in the right place at the right time. Congrats Stefan: You are my desktop image for a loooong time. Amazing how robust the Boeing is. Would not trust an Airbus Computer to figure out how to deal with starlings. No offense, but who's to say I'm wrong?
Something you don't see everyday, absolutely amazing.
Great photo! Reeeeeealy nice ;-)
And if it landed after 45 minutes, I'm guessing that was to burn fuel to reduce to landing weight, based on our 737 Pristina fuel loads (no fuel dump facility on these).
Absolutely excellent. I've only ever had single birdstrikes (in jets) and we often see it a split-second before impact even if we're looking inside! I bet they shouted "BIRDS!" (or maybe in German).
Terrific luck (for you) to get this shot. The starlings...not so much. Great detail. I see avian debris all over the place!
From a photography point of you, this is a good photo. But reality check please. This kind of event can spell disaster for the crew and passengers of this plane. We, humans, fancy the macabre. We have this bizarre taste for looking at the "before shot" of an event gone terribly wrong. Lucky this plane made it back safely. Just my two cents.
Captured that moment perfectly!
Omg look at that massacre :D
Absolutely stunning picture. This is my PC!!! Look at the birds behind the engine thrust blast... Simply amazing and dramatic.
Perfect timing and rare picture of the incident, congrats.
And in the red corner weighin' in at 124,500 pounds... B737. In the blue corner, weighin' at 70 pounds... the starlings. Get in the ring! Definetly 5stars - when nature and industry fight.
Pity these birdies :( | |
What a massacre! O_o | |
Incredible! I also saw one time such a flock of birds in Dusseldorf. They were flying around the runway but fortunately they did not collide with any aircrafts...
As peter griffen would say "everybody knows that the bird is the word"
Uh-oh, PeTA is not going to like this! Awesome shot, though. Never seen anything like this.
5 Stars easily! A shot well done! I would keep the email Inbox open because they will beat your door down for that shot!!! Great work and great poise! IMO, that could be the shot of the year right there folks.
What comes out we call "Hühnerfrikassee" in Germany ;)
Poor birds but... AMAZING SHOT! Five stars!
Great once in a lifetime shot!!
I saw that picture some days ago on the news. Great shot !
When i saw the thumbnail i thought , "oh it's just an illusion - the birds are probably in the foreground" you can actually see bird remains being thrown from the engine . I can imagine the pilots' thoughts an instant before this event... "uh oh...we're gonna have to turn back..... "
WOW! No words! Perfect | |
Looks like the first office was looking straight at you while you were capturing the moment!
Amazing pic. From Pristina/Kosovo
Great shot, you caught what could have potentially been a disaster. 5 stars!
FODs, every pilots nightmare..
Congratulations to that "once in a lifetime" shot, which even the yellow press in Germany gave attention. Hope the reward was not bad. ;-)
Very nice shot indeed. Not the best day for the birds but your timing was just perfect.
WOW!! Incredible! =D | |
Great documentary shot - excellent work!
An increbible shot if only the U.S Airways fligt on the hudson in jan.....
Must be the picture of 2009! Bird vs bird! 5*****
Poor animals, thanks god nothing happened to the plane. From Argentina
Very very good work. Excellent capture of such event. Glad they made it safely back, that it not a minor strike! This will be a textbook picture for many presentation and articles on birdstrike. Keep your mailbox insight :)
Nice picture | |
Your pic was published in "Bild" Newspaper last week!
Nature photography at its best... the survivors probably needed psychological treatment;)
Considering the speed of the aircraft at that time, let's say 120-140 kt, I just wonder if the FO saw it happen or not. Excellent capture anyway.
Excellent capture of a, fortunately rare, event.
WOW...Fantastic shot...Really 5* Farid
An instant in time the pilots and wary passengers will remember for the rest of their lives ... poor birds ... they have no chance against this big baby :-) photo well taken ... thanx for sharing
Statistically speaking, DUS had over 200 bird strikes in a day, probably can make it to the guinness world record!
I saw this picture on the day it happened. i guess yuo posted it to some newspaer website. Dailytimes i guess on Sept 30th.
New Desktop | |
Dinner is served | |
Absolutely incredible. You will remember this photo forever. Talk about timing!!! *****
At the right place on the right time for the fotographer but the birds... Congrats Stefan, a 1st place winner! Regards, Frank frm BUE - E01 ps: I imagined the FO saying Eject! Eject! They were really lucky
Stunning, well done! Andrew LA
An awesome moment in aviation, you got a real winner here!
My photographer's choice, no question. Caught the moment perfectly. As they say... "f/8 and be there". Alberto R, NYC
What a mess. Well captured Stefan, this will be an iconic picture forever!
Absolutely 5* for this one! You were at the correct place at the correct time to capture a truly dramatic moment not only for the poor little birds!
Gets my vote for PC, and 5 stars. Everything is happening here, incl the FO peering out at what's happening!! Brilliant!! Spencer.
Dear stefan, really nice picture of this birds! like this pic very much. greetings.
Yesss !!! Five stars! | |
