A visitor from United States posted Sun June 12, 2011:Was this an intentional wheels up landing or did the pilot forget the gear? Reason I ask is if it is an intentional belly landing it is sometimes better to stop the engine on short final, so as to not destroy the prop and possible engine. Of course that depends on the whole situation. Great shot nonetheless! Glad the pilot is okay.
A visitor from United States posted Sun June 12, 2011:Five stars minus one for not saying what was the reason for the wheel-up landing. Great occasion.

A visitor from United States posted Tue August 8, 2006:Excellent catch...and nobody hurt which is the most important part! Flaps are down because flaps increase lift and drag, which decrease approach speed and sink rate...in turn, minimizing damage. Hence, their use as seen here and in most belly-landings. Well caught...top notch photo! Jaysen - Shawnee, KS

A visitor from United States posted Tue May 16, 2006:Very unique pic !!! I just wish I had the guts to take a pic when seeing a plane coming in for a forced landing. Btw, was it a technical failure or a pilot, who forgot about retracting the gears ??

A visitor from Sweden posted Sun May 14, 2006:Ouch! What a thrill! And later, relief and thoughts in the pilots head when things seems to work out and hearing the thuds and scraping from underneath: "Okey man, how expensive will this be?" A thrilling moment, good catched photo! /Joz in Sweden

A visitor from United States posted Sun May 14, 2006:Great photo, just out of curiosity why does the pilot have his flaps down. whoulnt it have been less costly to keep them up and save them from damage?
