A visitor from United States posted Wed April 23, 2008:My very first flight,I flew on Hunting-Clan Airways in March 1959 from London to Lusaka, with many stops for re-fuelling (Rome,Benghazi, Wadi Halfa, Khartoum, Entebbe & Ndola - customs). I was flying out to meet with my fiance who was training for the N. Rhodesia Police. I still have the Menu from the flight. It was fascinating.....could see quite a bit on the ground and flew over those great African lakes, Nyasa & Victoria. For me, it was a great adventure (although, in the beginning, when I first saw the plane on the tarmac, I had some trepidation about flying all that way in this plane, which seemed too small!). This is quite nostalgic for me seeing this lovely photo. In 1986 (married to my 2nd husband by then) I took flying lessons and became a private pilot SEL - flying Cessnas. I have a love of planes still. Ruth Spindler, Los Angeles, California | |
