This plane was lost on 25 Aug 2008. This was the last operational L13 in Iran. They were flying for decades.

The Blanik is a nice glider. Sad they are now grounded due to steel fatigue detected after a crash in Germany this summer.

EP-JAE crashed int his airport in 1998, caused serious injuries to the front seat pilot and the plane was totally lost.

Nice to see Blanik so far away from her country of origin! Very nice photo, Mohammad.

The problem was not in Blanik itself, the problem was that Austrians performed full aerobatics far beyond the permitted total aerobatic hours. It was like racing with your oldimer car. Unfortunately EASA grounded all L-13 disregarding this fact. Fortunately though, L-13A with and L-13 retrofitted with reinforcements to the wings can fly again :-)
