This is a takeoff judging from the flaps and amount of thrust, and the plane is not crooked, the yellow lines are the taxiway, the white ones are the runway

A visitor from United States posted Wed May 31, 2006:
Great angle! From the thumbnail, I mistook it for a **** of a crosswind or a departure from the taxiway, but seeing it up close... wow!

A visitor from - posted Sat April 1, 2006:
This is a normal takeoff, nothing to do with any crosswind, and its not the runway behind that aircraft, its the taxiway, the runway is where the aircraft is taking off frm and people inthe forum have started a thread regarding this, funny.

Very good photo. Good job!!

A visitor from United States posted Sat March 4, 2006:
Jetliner flying sideways? Only Her Majesty the 747 can pull this oneoff! :P

A visitor from United States posted Thu March 2, 2006:
Actually, the runway turns through 90 degrees :P
Icelandic registration? So is that one leased from Air Atlanta, maybe? Ex Singapore Airlines bird, isn't it?

A visitor from Thailand posted Tue February 21, 2006:
Haha, this plane's taking off from the taxiway! Is that it? hehe.

A visitor from Canada posted Tue February 21, 2006:
The angle and detail makes this a marvelous picture.
Also as ex-IB-Canada staff it brings back great memories, when the B747 operated Mad-YMX-Mex.

A visitor from United States posted Sat February 18, 2006:
This is one of very few Iberia shots that I really like. Great capture!

Iberia still needs a new livery :P

A visitor from Mexico posted Mon February 13, 2006:
A very spectacular take-off! I wonder what the passengers felt with the plane goin´ aside. T.B.

Angle and coulour fab.....

A visitor from Austria posted Tue December 27, 2005:
Oh my god!!

A visitor from Spain posted Fri December 16, 2005:
The bird is at take off, flaps are not fully deployed, rotation is too big for landing, and blast effect is to big for engines at idle (like would be at landing), you can "see" a Binter Canarias ATR-72 or similar behind the blast at right. The runway is the 30 and the taxiway is probably C3, so is almost exactly in the point where the two 747 collided on 1977. Really don't seem to be cross wind but the effect is so wonderful!!!

A visitor from Australia posted Fri December 16, 2005:
It's obviously a takeoff from the amount of flap extended. I dont understand how it can be seen as a croswind landing, but great photo none the less.

A visitor from Canada posted Fri December 16, 2005:
Great composition - I can almost hear the plane!

A visitor from Spain posted Thu December 15, 2005:
It's incredible!!. When I first saw the photo I did not understand it, but now that I have analysed it closely I realise that I don't have a clue ;). Well, yes, I am sure that there is a Binter ATR-72 round there.

A visitor from Spain posted Thu December 15, 2005:
Good !. And you can see a Binter turboprop behind the jet blast of the 747.

A visitor from Singapore posted Thu December 15, 2005:
Reply to a Portugal visitor, it is a landing, NOT a take off. (Please look at the extended flap)

A visitor from Portugal posted Tue December 13, 2005:
As a thumbnail it looked like it was landing on the taxiway, but a better look showed me better.

A visitor from Brazil posted Tue December 13, 2005:
Main airports do not have trees planted in the runway head, so I vote for a strong crosswind. It´s not plausible that she would have come from above the trees. The only detail that doesn't fit is the rudder perfectly aligned when we should expect a right movement of the rudder for such a crosswind.
Excellent picture that requires interpretation!!!

A visitor from Portugal posted Tue December 13, 2005:
It´s not a landing, it is a take off

A visitor from United Kingdom posted Tue December 13, 2005:
Beautiful photo.....Manolo did the thing run you over afterwards? :)

A visitor from Israel posted Tue December 13, 2005:
No crosswind here its just the taxiway.

A visitor from United States posted Tue December 13, 2005:
Absolutely incredible visual effect. I would like to know what equipment it was taken with. Any chance of adding that to you're remark? Thanks, incredible shot!

A visitor from United States posted Tue December 13, 2005:
Their is almost NO crosswind and it is an illusion that makes it appear the plane is traveling toward the camera. The actual direction of travel is to the right following the white runway marking lines. The yellow lines trailing off into the background are a taxiway. Airports markings are white for runway and yellow for taxiways. It's a great shot, but, don't be fooled by it.

A visitor from Canada posted Tue December 13, 2005:
My god what a crosswind action going on. Good old Spain and its crosswind landings funny to see a 137 ton monster being pushed around.

A visitor from Germany posted Tue December 13, 2005:
At first glance I thought it landed or took off from the taxiway behind..great shot!

A visitor from Germany posted Mon December 12, 2005:
Nice illusion... its not the runway which you see behind...

A visitor from United Kingdom posted Mon December 12, 2005:
I was at TFN on Friday en route to LGW. Where do you go to get to the right position to get shots like this!

A visitor from Poland posted Mon December 12, 2005:
I agree with the visitor from Poland, it's just normal landing. It can be seen as if it was a astonishing landing, but this effect is caused by the taxiway, not runway! Of course, it IS a great photo! Congratulations!

A visitor from Germany posted Mon December 12, 2005:
Whoaaaa, stunning!!!

A visitor from Poland posted Mon December 12, 2005:
This plane is perfectly lined up.Behind you see taxiway
not runway.

A visitor from Spain posted Mon December 12, 2005:
What a crosswind landing!!
Hard job at touchdown.
Torrespain.

A visitor from Spain posted Mon December 12, 2005:
Excellent moment to take the photo, notice how the airplane is not leveled and out of direction. You can almost see the pilot worrying face.

A visitor from Netherlands posted Mon December 12, 2005:
Great actionshot

Cheers
Tim
