A visitor from - posted Mon October 12, 2009: Actually, this aircraft was designed to compete for a new Shturmovik aircraft, in the same competition where the Su-25 Frogfoot won.
A visitor from Russian Federation posted Mon October 12, 2009: A competitor to Su-25 that even had certain performance advantages over the latter but was a couple of years too late to be eventually approved for serial production. The 'philosophy' implemented by its designers was pretty much that of Il-2/Il-10.
