N765TW (cn 17679/88) Old Ektachrome slide improved as far as possible - a 'wet' take-off from Rwy 28L (water injection into turbojets to improve trust causing lots of great smoke!) - some classic old jets visible in the heat haze in the background

A visitor from Netherlands posted Tue January 19, 2010: A magnificent picture from the days when getting airborne was still hard work... Airport security has changed a bit as well... look a that fence! Thist is what I call a real aircraft. Twinjets are for wimps ;-)
A visitor from United States posted Tue January 19, 2010: Feel that power! Very impressive. Wish I could turn back time! This can't be a 'wet' takeoff, however; only the early turbojet 707-100 (without the 'B'-suffix) series had water injection. The 707-300's (again without the 'B'-suffix, which indicated JT3D low-bypass turbofans) like this one had the more powerful P&W JT4A engines, these didn't need water injection.
