A visitor from Netherlands posted Mon November 7, 2011:So... the nosegear just failed, noone could help it? Ok, draw your own conclusions... I furthermore admire the Iranian mechanics for keeping the good old classics airworthy though.
A visitor from United States posted Wed October 26, 2011:Glad no one was hurt, kudos to the pilots for an amazing landing!
A visitor from Australia posted Wed October 26, 2011:Great shot with lots of interesting action in the field of view. To those critical of Iranian maintenance, the crucial factor here is that the escape slides deployed properly. The over wing exits are rafts and would not have been activated in this instance so no problem there. Also, note the very modern fire truck. The emergency repsonse appears first class. Under the sanctions it looks like these guys do a commendable job. Thanks Jafari.

A visitor from United Kingdom posted Wed October 26, 2011:Well said 'USAF Maintainer'. There appears to be no evidence to suggest that this was down to poor maintenance - or indeed sanctions - from what I read. Machines sometimes develop faults even if they are serviced regularly, anyone who owns a car knows that. Good piloting skills too - it appears damage is minimal. Very nice picture by the way - good to see the 707 tails in the background also.

A visitor from - posted Thu October 20, 2011:Sanction or no sanction it is the responsibility of the PIC and the operator to fly an aircraft in a safe condition. If Iran Air made a decision to fly an improperly maintained aircraft because of the sanctions then they have no one else to blame but themselves. There are other unsanctioned airlines out there who fly this route safely and the passengers have a choice.
A visitor from - posted Thu October 20, 2011:Very good.Iranian airlines are include stupid sanctions, why? huh I don't know.So Iran can't buy a new planes. Thanks Mr Jafari for photography.
A visitor from United Kingdom posted Thu October 20, 2011:These sanctions are so stupid and pointless. those who implemented it are so narrow minded and heartless and did not think that these old planes could fail and kill hundreds
A visitor from United States posted Thu October 20, 2011:Despite the snarky comment about maintenance, the newest of planes and the best maintained planes have failures; they are machines. As a former USAF maintainer, I would say that this plane is as well maintained as any in the US Carriers fleets. It will no doubt be repaired and flying in a few months. The aircraft maintainers in Iran deal with the same issues we do in the US. Too damn bad the Government leaders can't get along; the real people can! DtD
A visitor from - posted Thu October 20, 2011:I hope it will soon be flying again !
A visitor from - posted Thu October 20, 2011:And what do Iranians think about the age of their flag carrier's fleet in the country soaked in oil?
A visitor from - posted Thu October 20, 2011:Too bad Iran can't join the rest of the civilized world and get the proper repair parts.
A visitor from Netherlands posted Thu October 20, 2011:I don't doubt the pilots' skill. Maintenance seems the issue indeed, unlike unfortunately the early Fokker 100's the 727 does not have a manufacturing error/weak point with the landing gear. So maintain them properly, and they could fly for years to come, or buy new material as Iranair already has done in some cases (A320-family). And yeah, if money is the issue, then do something to lift those sanctions... (!!!)
A visitor from - posted Thu October 20, 2011:Well I'm sure it's definitely maintained properly - iranian engineers are famous for doing impossible to keep the aging fleet flying even under the spares embargo. This just happens even to "better" airlines sometimes.
A visitor from France posted Thu October 20, 2011:Good work. I like the C-130H in front.
A visitor from Germany posted Thu October 20, 2011:Interesting shot. However, no reason to be overly proud of the pilots. EVERY airline pilot is trained to land under these conditions. In this case, they still had their main gear available. Absolutely no big deal... I wonder if they fix the old lady and bring her back up in the air?
A visitor from Iran, Islamic Republic Of posted Thu October 20, 2011:Mr Shahbazi The man Who Saved 727
A visitor from United Kingdom posted Thu October 20, 2011:Again...and...again!
A visitor from - posted Wed October 19, 2011:Pilots, good job! Looks like she's gonna be up again no "big" problem.
A visitor from United Kingdom posted Wed October 19, 2011:You, the master of crash.
A visitor from United Kingdom posted Wed October 19, 2011:Glad nobody was hurt. Hope they get the aircraft fixed and in the air again ASAP!
A visitor from - posted Wed October 19, 2011:Ah!! The 727..A flying tank!..Works even better if properly maintained.
