Iran Air under wings of Iranian Spotters.Iran Air is probably the first Airline which placed the pray room in its aircraft. But I wonder how Muslims can find the right direction of Mecca when the plane never pass a direct route.Special thanks to Mr.Noosh Abadi.

Great photo. There is a screen in the room with an outline of the aircraft and an arrow pointing to the direction of Mecca that changes as the aircraft changes position... Saudi Arabian Airlines, Emirates and others have the same thing.

Nice photo. But I have to mention two points: First of all in the praying room there is a LCD monitor which shows the direction of Mecca. secondly, as u know in cruise usually the aircraft flies in an almost direct route. (Mohammad Ali)

I've never seen a prayer room but talked to a gentleman many years back on a flight from London that said his previous flight had an arrow on the video screen that always pointed to Mecca.

In situations like these (travel) when direction is unknown or changing it is only advisable if possible to start the prayer in facing the Kaaba, and then it doesn't matter if the direction changes. And if that is not possible you can pray facing any direction.

Very atmospheric and evocative.

The two rows in front of the prayer room would also make for a very private and quiet 'mini cabin'.

I agree with the other posts - I love the atmosphere of this cabin. I have seen pictures of other Iran Air 747s; they are very cool aircraft. I hope at least one of these birds will be preserved upon retirement, as I would love to tour one someday. The prayer rooms are a great reflection of the culture of the nation the aircraft is from. Also, kudos to the Iranian maintenance staff for doing such a fine job keeping those 747 Classics and 707s in the air and in very nice shape.
