A visitor from United States posted Mon April 21, 2008: A plane has been sitting on the run way for an hour - waiting for bad weather (heavy thunderstoms to subside)before take-off. In such a scenario, who clears the plane to fly? The traffic controllers or the captain? It has been reported in the media that the captain of the ill-fated Kenyan decided to depart meanwhile other airlines were waiting for the weather to improve. How can a pilot decide to fly knowing the weather is bad? Who calls the short? The weather men or the aircraft captain?

They both have huge observation decks where you get some fantastic photos - one of 3 extended jal 777's , one rotating, one in the gate, and one taxiing......fantastic
