VH-VQK (cn 2651) Off the south coast of Borneo flying through high cloud associated with distant storm cells our A320 truly becomes an electric jet. Amazing display of static electricity flowing through our jet in relatively smooth air makes for an amazing sight and luckily had me gear along. EOS1DMK3 14/2.8 II

The slow exposure made it possible to see the whole show all at once. Pretty nifty photography there. I used to fly small planes. Never was up during storms, but would love to see this phenomina in person.

This couldn't have been a time exposure or the pilots would be blurred. I can tell you one thing, Airbus are fanatics about bonding everything on the aircraft. EVERYTHING has a bonding wire attached to it. For good reason, apparently

Really stunning!

One thing to keep in mind is that this photo was exposed over several seconds. This means that there are never that many sparks on the windscreen at any one time.

Stunning photo, sure you weren't on the set of a sci-fi movie warping across space! best flightdeck shot i've ever seen.
Does this happen very often? and is it only seen at the front or also along the sides of the aircraft?
