CPTN how do i turn this plane on (flips switches and buttons)..... did it do anything?
F/O nope

A visitor from United States posted Thu April 3, 2008:
I'd like to restate my last comment. Nice shot. That looks more like a bookmobile to me than a cockpit. 5* for this awesome (and unusual) photo.

A visitor from United States posted Wed April 2, 2008:
Aren't mobile phones prohibited on aircraft these days?

A visitor from United States posted Wed April 2, 2008:
What is this? A bookmobile???

A visitor from Brazil posted Sat November 24, 2007:
Is this a library, a book store or a cockpit?

A visitor from United States posted Mon November 12, 2007:
Oh yeah!! I think the F/O is jst counterchecking the nbr of blades in the Engine.... or probably his log flew into it..hehe =P

A visitor from United Kingdom posted Wed October 31, 2007:
- Yep, I confirm engine 2 is on the right wing, as per the manual
:)

A visitor from United States posted Sun January 21, 2007:
Uhm captain i think the log book got scuked into the engine lol

A visitor from Brazil posted Mon October 23, 2006:

Only on KLM...

A visitor from Netherlands posted Thu June 1, 2006:
I can see a mobile!
Nice picture

A visitor from Brazil posted Fri April 7, 2006:
Cpt.: what are you looking for?
F/O.: I just loose my cap!!!

Andre Luis

A visitor from Netherlands posted Mon February 20, 2006:
To everybody: this is normal on ground activity. They had a small technical problem, so they checked the books. The telephone is a KLM company mobile to be used on ground to contact the dispatcher. Rob the F/O is checking if the refuel truck is already disconnected and the captain is turning to the purser that boarding can be started. So nothin' strange, nothin' new. KLM cpt Tom

A visitor from Finland posted Wed February 15, 2006:
"Ooohhh! I can see an engine" says the copilot

A visitor from Brazil posted Thu November 25, 2004:
It's a different angle!
"Good" is the better choice

A visitor from Germany posted Thu November 25, 2004:
Great and funny picture!!

A visitor from Canada posted Thu November 25, 2004:
Great capture of pilots at work. What is he looking at out the window? It looks like they have every procedure and checklist on the dash!

A visitor from Netherlands posted Thu November 25, 2004:
Absolutely great shot

A visitor from Norway posted Thu November 25, 2004:
This plane should have had a paint job. There must be a snag somewhere, and the Capt. is running through the manuals while the co pilot is looking worried at the engine. Great shot - and great timing

A visitor from Chile posted Thu November 25, 2004:
How Do You Turn This On???!!! Somebody Forgot To Read The Manual Before The Flight =P!!! Nice Photo.

A visitor from Canada posted Thu November 25, 2004:
Good close up shot, showing crew in action, gives the a/c "character" with all the paint chips, scratches, etc. I wonder if that's the In or Out box!

A visitor from Spain posted Thu November 25, 2004:
Just self-explained. Good to have some fun once in a while. Also the sharpness of the picture is quite remarkable

A visitor from Netherlands posted Thu November 25, 2004:
The pic just looks so good... Here you can see that this bird really needs the new KLM-colors

A visitor from Netherlands posted Thu November 25, 2004:
Wasn't KLM the first to order the Electronic Flight Bag on the 777?

Now we know why...

A visitor from Switzerland posted Thu November 25, 2004:
Is there a mobile phone ? The captain may need to phone his girlfriend in flight :)

A visitor from India posted Thu November 25, 2004:
Quite interesting too see the deck cluttered with variety of manuals!..no different than my study table!!

A visitor from United Kingdom posted Thu November 25, 2004:
Unusual flightdeck situation, and subjects well illuminated.

A visitor from Finland posted Thu November 25, 2004:
The photo is very good

A visitor from United States posted Thu November 25, 2004:
Shows the amount of paperwork required for a flight. Got to get the pay slips correct!

A visitor from Netherlands posted Thu November 25, 2004:
Interesting close-up shot.

A visitor from United States posted Thu November 25, 2004:
I think its okay good angle though

A visitor from Netherlands posted Thu November 25, 2004:
The photo depicts that flying an airplane is not just fun and amazing views when you are up there, but that there is also a lot of complicated manuals and paperwork that you must read, understand an comply to.

A visitor from Germany posted Thu November 25, 2004:
Funny pic! :)

A visitor from United States posted Thu November 25, 2004:
Good quality. Not foggy or anything. NICE

A visitor from United States posted Thu November 25, 2004:
If I had cockpit management like these two, I think I would bust my Commercial checkride. Interesting shot though.

A visitor from India posted Thu November 25, 2004:
The speciality of the photo is the comment. It appears funny, like just the crew is figuring out as if 'how do i start this thing ?" and the FO is saying 'wait let me check if this thing is on'

A visitor from United States posted Thu November 25, 2004:
Who has the warranty card for the paint job?

A visitor from Luxembourg posted Thu November 25, 2004:
It`s not a new plane!!! It isn`t?

A visitor from United States posted Thu November 25, 2004:
There has to be a story here, but each person will be forced to make up his or her own. The photographer captured something, we just don't know what.

A visitor from Sri Lanka posted Thu November 25, 2004:
I guess something must have gone wrong, most probably in the #2 engine, where the F/O is taking a look at :-) Guess the crew didn’t find any answer form the paper load. I think there could be a good reason to have the Capt’s mobile on the glare shield! :-) The aircraft definitely need paint job done.

A visitor from Netherlands posted Thu November 25, 2004:
Great photo! It put a smile on my face...

A visitor from Netherlands posted Thu November 25, 2004:
It´s a good Photo

A visitor from Spain posted Thu November 25, 2004:
Well
I think it's clear The second Officer gives the clue, they have forgotten what the right indicator switch was, and they're trying to find it on the manual....;)

A visitor from Brazil posted Thu November 25, 2004:
F/O to the Capt: Hey! There's more room at the engine!

A visitor from France posted Thu November 25, 2004:
Very clear photo! The details are stunning.

A visitor from Greece posted Thu November 25, 2004:
Good pic! What is the f/o looking at?

A visitor from Italy posted Thu November 25, 2004:

A visitor from United States posted Thu November 25, 2004:
Really good photo with a disappointing subject! A new meaning for flying IFR with "James Cook".

A visitor from United Kingdom posted Thu November 25, 2004:
"Sir one of the manuals has been blown out of the window!"
Great shot mate!

A visitor from United States posted Thu November 25, 2004:
I love how close the photographer got. You can see the pilots and the papers hey are using. In addition the sunset is awesome

A visitor from United States posted Thu November 25, 2004:
I like how it is a close-up view; however, it is just that is messy. It might have been the light or the angle, but I can't pinpoint it.

A visitor from Spain posted Thu November 25, 2004:
I tought mobile phones were forbidden! :)

A visitor from Netherlands posted Thu November 25, 2004:
Because the pilot's action and the comment...

A visitor from United Kingdom posted Thu November 25, 2004:

A visitor from Germany posted Thu November 25, 2004:

A visitor from Australia posted Thu November 25, 2004:
Lots of paper in the cockpit. Looks like my office :-)

A visitor from Netherlands posted Thu November 25, 2004:
It is an excellent picture as it is something different, and has a touch of humour. It will be great to see more funny pics like this one

A visitor from Australia posted Thu November 25, 2004:

A visitor from Netherlands posted Thu November 25, 2004:
Humor, and a very recognizable reality for me and thousands of other groundstaff employees who daily contribute to this paper mess! Let's cheer for them here today!

A visitor from Israel posted Thu November 25, 2004:
Ut shows what they do when the autopilot is on

A visitor from United Kingdom posted Thu November 25, 2004:
It just isn't very exciting!

A visitor from Portugal posted Thu November 25, 2004:
Well, my cockpit is sure less-paper than that one! Nice photo, nice close-up!

A visitor from United States posted Thu November 25, 2004:
Not a shot you see everyday.

A visitor from United Kingdom posted Thu November 25, 2004:
Clear focus of people and surroundings

A visitor from Bangladesh posted Thu November 25, 2004:
Anyone notice the mobile phone on the right side of the picture? I think it's a Nokia. I sure hope it's turned off!

A visitor from Germany posted Thu November 25, 2004:
Looks like my own cockpit, really!

A visitor from Hong Kong posted Thu November 25, 2004:
Very funny XDDDD

A visitor from United States posted Thu November 25, 2004:
YES well they (the pilots) have to follow the manuals!

A visitor from Italy posted Thu November 25, 2004:
This photo represent a part of the airline pilot life, with a lot of documents and manuals.

A visitor from Spain posted Thu November 25, 2004:
"Ah!, So it´s a engine... it looks different in papers, isn´t it?..."

A visitor from New Zealand posted Thu November 25, 2004:
Who said planes don't fly on paper?

A visitor from United States posted Thu November 25, 2004:
Good close-up of something more than a static display or airship in flight. I get a feeling of real activity considering the clutter and the worn look of the nose (not to mention the movement of the pilots.)

A visitor from Netherlands posted Thu November 25, 2004:
KLM is a company that likes to do everything by the book. It shows!!

A visitor from Germany posted Thu November 25, 2004:
This is Paper, less cockpit! :)

A visitor from Malaysia posted Thu November 25, 2004:
Wow, this is incredible and why to much paper in the cockpit?? By the way good shot.

A visitor from United States posted Thu November 25, 2004:
Good

A visitor from United States posted Thu November 25, 2004:
I know one of these manuals tells you how to set the FM Radio buttons, but which one?????

A visitor from United States posted Thu November 25, 2004:
The photographer could have tried to find out what the first officer is doing with his/her head out of the window and what was the deal with all the books/papers in the window (instead of just ask the question).

A visitor from Viet Nam posted Thu November 25, 2004:
Very nice shot, the quality of this shot is good and it had a sharpness

A visitor from New Zealand posted Thu November 25, 2004:
It is detailed, yes a lot of paperwork.
And plane needs a paintjob.

A visitor from United States posted Thu November 25, 2004:
It really made me laugh!

A visitor from Australia posted Thu November 25, 2004:
Good angle and close up. I think this is a good photo because it shows the situation some pilots are in with the busy and complicated job that they have

A visitor from United States posted Thu November 25, 2004:
this is a very funny pic. this one is unique. that cockpit is such a mess.

A visitor from Australia posted Thu November 25, 2004:
I like the photo.
Great closeups show what planes need a new strip back and paint job.
Well done keep up the good work Antti Salo .
cheers

A visitor from United States posted Thu November 25, 2004:
Just proves a point.... where ever computers go, paper is sure to follow.

A visitor from United States posted Thu November 25, 2004:
nice!

A visitor from Mexico posted Thu November 25, 2004:
What do the pilot and copilot are thinking??? they never thought they were going to be caught like this

A visitor from Canada posted Thu November 25, 2004:
An unusual close view of a common subject. The image is exceedingly clear and the window clutter adds a familiar human element to our everyday lives. Very nice, would like to know what size of lens was used and make of camera.

A visitor from United States posted Thu November 25, 2004:
Nice shot - just shows that pilots can be a little "disorganized" at times too...:)

A visitor from United States posted Thu November 25, 2004:
I like the humor involved with the photo!

A visitor from Malaysia posted Thu November 25, 2004:
GORGEOUS

A visitor from United States posted Thu November 25, 2004:
I love the joke about this photo and the angle. I think it is delightful.

A visitor from Canada posted Thu November 25, 2004:
I think that is't great to know that pilots work so hard to get people and cargo to where it's has to go.

A visitor from Brazil posted Thu November 25, 2004:
it's an office in flight

A visitor from Australia posted Thu November 25, 2004:
lol love the caption

A visitor from United States posted Thu November 25, 2004:
It's a great photo because you can almost read the manual on the dashboard.

A visitor from Netherlands Antilles posted Thu November 25, 2004:
Well, because it something different from what is usually an airline photo on this site. And that comment from the photographer

A visitor from United States posted Thu November 25, 2004:
all too funny

A visitor from Mexico posted Thu November 25, 2004:
Very cool close up!!

A visitor from United States posted Thu November 25, 2004:
