"City of Guayaquil" - very low approach because of tailwind; taken with a 10mm lense!

Nice catch! I was also there on that day. And in fact, the wind was blowing 30-35km/h from the east - so no tailwind at all.

These KLM pilots seem to compete in lowest approaches to St Maarten with 747`s

This has to be the lowest arrival of any wide body into sxm... i mean just wow!!! the first time i experienced this my heart was in my throat...not just because i love planes and being so close to one in flight and not inside one, but you get the feeling that its gonna drop on yur head...and the smell of the fuel as it passes overhead gives me a rush

WOW. Looks like you're about to be konked on the head by the wingtip! This makes all the other SXM arrivals look really high! But I fear some future flight will end in disaster for the folks on the beach, the cars on the road, and the passengers on board - this is not a limbo contest - the goal is a safe, if unimpressive, landing!

Great photo. but be honest, there was no tail wind on that day. just look at the palms in the background. it's also the perspective that makes it look even lower. but still, great photo!
