I flew this plane only once (and for the first time in a DC-3), as a guest in 92, between Amsterdam and Dover .. It was a great experience, indeed! .. nice to remember the lovely noise of those engines. [Captain Vasconcelos, former Varig]
Nice Photo! Would like to fly in a real C-47, I've only got hours in the Turbo-Prop version
The good old loyal douglas. One of the best a/c ever build.
The "Dak" just can't be beat! Wonderful shot!
I completed the U.S. Navy's "shipfitter's school" at Norfolk, Va.in June, 1952. Had 72 hours to go home to Cincinnati,( 550 miles), and drive an old Ford back to Norfolk; had to take my very first ride in an airplane to do it......a beautiful old (even then) DC-3, belonging to Piedmont Airlines. ( I have loved airplanes ever since! ) Thanks for posting this beautiful old "bird"! Charley
