Stunning quality | |
I'll never forget the last DC-8 I flew. It was an United Airlines DC-8-63 with new GE engines. Went from Dulles in DC to Chicago. The DC-8 just felt solid and smooth, what a great aircraft. And the new GE engines made it even more impressive. One of my favorite airplanes. To all the Douglas engineers, well done.
Wow. This picture brings you right back in time. The quality is phenomenal. Thanks for posting!
Brilliant picture of the mighty long DC8! You can almost hear that high-pitched whine of those JT3D's. Brings back sweet memories from the time that I was standing by the runway fence at Schiphol as a little boy, together with my dad. Must have seen PH-DEE in real life back then. I remember thinking: "Oh it's just another DC-8/707/Trident/Caravelle, now bring on the big 747!" And today, how I would love to see (and hear!) these planes once again, while the 747s, even the classics, are still a rather common sight at AMS...
Wow, look like a modern digital photo
Sweet 70's! | |
Beautiful plane back in the days
Great shot, great aircraft. I also like the colors a lot, but if I was master of design I would have gone back in time further for the retro jet and gone for the scheme that the Fokker XII's and XVIII's such as the 'Pelikaan' flew in, predominantly black and blue and with the winged logo they only did away with in the late fifties after some thirty years of loyal service! Gotta love these DC jets though, probably oldest jet with tailskid/bumper that I know of.
What a classic! | |
WOW, I simply love it!!!
Best livery indeed, and its a douglas.best machines klm ever had.
Great picture that nicely displays the best livery KLM ever had! KLM should have painted their retro 737 in this livery..
Wow great classic shot and great quality!
