On March 27th 1977 this aircraft collided with a Pan Am Boeing 747 in fog on the runway at Tenerife. 583 people lost their lives in what is still the world's worst aviation disaster. Both aircraft had been diverted from nearby Las Palmas due to a bomb threat there and this aircraft initated a take-off without permission as N736PA was crossing the runway.

Great picture. If there was never a bomb threat, those two 747s never would have smashed into each other. One thing can lead to another.
