This photo is compelling and convincing - and it is aesthetically satisfying. It draws its power from the contrast between the snow, which came down in the shape of tiny, lightweight snowflakes, and the plane, which also came out of the skies and, weighing dozens and dozens of tons, landed safely on the ground. It makes me think about the contrast between the power of nature and the power of the human intellect trying to come to grips with it.
The camera angle is well-chosen as it gives the snow a "gestalt" in the foreground and shows it not just as a white surface. Also, as a result of the camera angle, snow makes up more than one third of the picture. And what is central to the message is at the centre of the photo: a specimen of human ingenuity, radiating power and beauty. This photo gives me great confidence in aviation. Thank you, Kazutaka Yagi!

The picture just goes to show that KLM does not care for snow. They will get you there.
