If anyone has any doubts as to "do miracles happen?" this accident should answer the question, once and for all! To survive this is truly a miracle! (so sad about those on the ground; may they R.I.P.)
Yes, those refrigerator "motors" are really TOUGH! Actually it's an integrated motor-compressor unit. (I used to install them on an assembly line, many yrs ago)

A visitor from United States posted Sun August 3, 2008:
Thanks to everyone who wrote, and yes it was a very shocking sight. About the "grenades" they were refrigerator motors (I dont know how they are called) Those were the only things that were picked up because they were still in working conditions.

Desolation after the police ribbon...Think to all victims
Did you have precisions on what are the quantity of spheroid métallic 'grenades' on the ground and the big blue/violet and round bidons/cans in the grass, first plan? What use?

Oh my God. How did anybody survive that? I am saddened to hear that two people on the ground lost their lives. I'm sure the crew are counting their blessings at this moment.

For the previous poster:
No fatalities, just 2 slight injuries from the long slide down the emergency chute.

Again another 747 classic less in the sky

Very sad to see this photo. I was stunned when I heard another Kalitta a/c was down. Note the packages scattered around the aircraft. Also sad that people on the ground died

A visitor from Spain posted Tue July 8, 2008:
Yes, three people died when the aircraft crashed against their home... but the 8 members of the crew surprisingly had not important injuries.

A visitor from - posted Tue July 8, 2008:
According to the press, part of the acft hit a farm house killing two people

A visitor from United Kingdom posted Tue July 8, 2008:
To German visitor: Yes, unfortunately there were three fatalities.

Sad sight, this picture. Very dramatic capture with all that loose cargo (I assume).

A visitor from Germany posted Tue July 8, 2008:
Sad to see a Kalitta bird down again in 2 months. Are there fatalities?
