Hey, at least no fatalities. ...*whispers*and no diamonds stolen
It is sad to see a crashed 747, but it is just a perfect composition! I can imagine the ICE operator bragging "his train is much safer"...
Funny, first and sofar only time I was on the ICE from Koln to Stuttgart I kept thinking: This is absolutely... the next best thing to flying.
I love how the ICE looks like its bragging to the 747 about its safety record.
But in Eschede ist was class 401 (ICE 1) train - this is class 406 (ICE 3M) - which has no locomotives as the 401 but has 16 traction motors underneath the whole train! Nice shot anyhow!
Must be 1-1 , don't forget the crash in Eschede 1998
The picture is perfect for plane-spotters, train spotters and firefighters.
Amazing engineering. There's no fire!
Yup just imagine sitting on a train going to a gate for a 9 hour flight on a 747 and you see this haha that would be nice .
Great shot composition!
Planes, Trains, and Automobiles!
It's a once in a lifetime experience to see this especially @ BRU a bit sad for the plane but it's good that the plane didn't break when it was in the air that would have been a disaster for the people of zaventem
The airplane who crashed, the train who comes by ,its an extra ordinary situation who is very special
It should be 1:1 because in Switzerland an ICE went strait in to a SBB (Schweizerisches Bundes bahn) 2000 Lokomotive.
Wow, the people on the ICE were lucky to escape. They must have got a fright seeing a plane coming towards them.
I've taken the train many times out of Brussels past the airport and this must have been quite a sight
DB (Deutsch Bahn) should use that shot to promote Rail Travel. they could have washed the ICE though.
This reminds me the Egypt Air 707 that skid off the runway and stopped few meters from rail tracks at Istanbul Ataturk Airport. That incident was more interesting because the 707 collided with a taxi.
Nice picture. crashed aircraft & actvie train!!!
Train and plane my 2 favorites hobbies. Great exposure
Great pic! Nice contrast. Reminds me of the old Roger Miller joke: my uncle was afraid to fly, so he took a train and a plane fell on it.
Pretty nice! What a lucky day for europe! This is a german ice, you can see the "db" sign on the side. The ice crash was a single crash in this long history of the ice in germany!
You must have been waiting to take this picture; making the picture at the exact right time, nice!
The Dutch Railways also owns a lot of ICE3's. Great photo! It's a wonder that everbody survived. I still remember the El Al crash in Amsterdam back in the '90s.
Thats one bad wreck! I like your comparison of safety between Rail and Air! I never knew the ICE went through Belgium - I knew of one going to France. Great angle. Its 1,000,000/5 from me!
ICE: Hey Buddy..Whats up 747: Hey man...I'm down!!!! Jayesh
Awesome picture! Not so nice comparison in your remark.
Wow, it was really close to ICE
As someone who passed this very spot on Thalys train a year ago, I have to say it's very fortunate that the plane didn't hit the rail track.
Once in a lifetime shot. Sweet comparison.
Luckely everybody survived! This particualr type of ICE (ICE3) has no fatalities (yet)
In Belgium we say 'Neig' : no comment could ever say what this photo says ! A crash of a Jumbo full of kerozine, a traintrack nearby, ... but no disaster. Brussels airport was lucky on 25th May 2008.
Just amazing that such a Huge and Heavy bird can split in half like that. I am awstruck.
Very interesting photo and comment! And yes the ICE did have a serious crash with many fatalities in 1998. So it is a tie!!!
A metaphoric view in the foreseeable future of transportation and travelling.
Definitely a sad sight, but you've done a great job framing it with the train. The liveries even match!
Olala - the german ICE3 on airliners.net, I can't believe it ;-) Well, the shape fits for an aircraft, only the wings are missing. By the way: the crash with about 100 fatalities was 10 years ago at Eschede and not with this ICE3-type. The youngest ICE-accident one month ago had no fatalities, but looked like this 747: scary.
Very nice contrast. The former biggest passengerplane and the fastest passengertrain in service. Very good composition. The ICE looks perfect.
As someone who's also a railfan I can say nice juxtaposition with the wrecked plane and the ICE train!!
Imagine what would have happened if the plane had fallen onto the tracks and a train had hit it. They had a lot of luck in this accident (only a broken freight 747 and four injured crew, no fatalities).
Nice angle on the crash however ICE has had a serious crash before with fatalities. So the score is tied so to speak. ;)
