Excellent picture, perfect timing!

Funny that the A380 is some X kilometres away from the 737, and it is the same size.

Great shot! The perspective makes the runway at STR look really short, from this angle you would never guess it is 3,345m/10,974ft long.

Very creative shot, great timing, lot of patience. What did you use? 300mm? 400mm? more?

Amazing! Simply amazing shot. Inbound Airbus A380 in the background. Just look at the size as it trumps the baby small 737

Love the shot, runway doesn't look long enough for A380!

Epic.

There is an optical illusion in this photo, at least to my eyes. The runway looks closer than the 737. Very interesting shot.

Is that A380 on the back, about to land on that runway?

Short Runway!

Talk about dangerous obstructions close to the airport (in the approach path no less!)

For all the previous posters who doubt the length of the runway is sufficient for an A380: its 3345m long.
That´s long enough for the pilot exercise flights carried out at EDDS.

Taking off in the other direction would be like kicking a field goal in American Football. I mean really, who puts those things there?! The runway does look short from this angle and I sure that 735 spring boarded off that runway like a homesick angel so it really does play on the eyes and fools the brain.

Great photo! Its funny, that runway looks as if you would need 5 minutes to walk from the point where the picture was taken upto the end of the runway! But indeed you need 15 minutes just for walking the whole runway:D

Great picture. For those of you who have said that the obstruction in the background would make landing difficult, remember that the standard ILS angle is 3 degrees. Take off is much much steeper than this, around 12 degrees and then about 10 degrees once a positive rate of climb has been established. The A380 is clearly over the obstruction, so take off would be no problem. The angle makes it look like the runway is short and the obstruction is close to the runway, but we all know this isn't the case. Wonderful picture.

This has to be the one of the most mind blowing pictures I have ever seen. Believe it or not, the VOR station is 950m from the other end of the runway. Those chimneys in the background are 10km away! I bet it was taken from a hill around 3.5km west from the threshold with a riduculously high focal length. Awesome.

I like how photos like this one that show this kind of perspective make the runway seem so short
