She's not the only female first officer in Iran; I know at least four airlines who have hired lady pilots. In Iran there is no ban on ladies becoming airline pilots. The hardest part is becoming captain, although there's no rule banning it, it has not unfortunately happened yet.
Hope see more success for this young lady as a captain level soon & in higher aircraft classes than A-300 & A300-600 soon after sanctions releasing against Iran.
And now she is studing for type change class to airbus 300-600 she is one of the bests...
Congratulations to this airline ! Nice to see a woman as a pilot in Iran ! I hope this will become very common in the near future !
Very impressive! Thanks for sharing!
Who is this young volunteer lady in Mahan air? who is struggling to make more opportunities for Iranian ladies in aviation, in a closed country like Iran...! cheers, 5 stars.
It is amazing to see ladies as 1st. officer in Iran today...!!! It is a good propagation for the islamic system while Saudi women can not drive a car...!?
It is just marvelous in Iran now...!
I won't say ridiculous, but I will say absurd.
Thank you for sharing this unique photo, Farhadi Aref; As an American citizen, I am obviously not as "aware" of social conditions in other countries as many on A.net are, but I do know enough to realize what a difficult struggle this talented young lady must have had, in getting to where she is now, and I wish to congratulate her on her achievement. Also, to Mahan Air....they have very forward thinking management!
It,s great! 58 comments, while this picture is hidden and not watchable now. I read previous comments, and the specific subject has stimulated some visitors to discuss differently! mostly those from Iran, the country where, there are so many limitations in newspapers, Tv. and other telecomunications, and such a free tribuns will be wellcomed! Therefore, five stars for young lady 1st officer, photografer, Mahan Air and this tribune as well.
I'm so glad to see my flight instructor. I've learned many things from her that they're really useful. I hope everythings going well for her.
A woman! is very nice to see!!! :D
Wow... this is an amazing opportunity!! I never thought something like this would be possible but you have proved that wrong. I am so proud of you for accomplishing this goal. Keep it up and safe flying!
Makes it look like the FO is a Ninja :P
I'm so thrilled to see a woman as First officer in Iran.No doubt she has been through many difficulties in a country where there is no equal job opportunity between men and women.Nice Photo (5*)
Very glad to see a woman in the cockpit of an Irania aircraft!
We would like to see this wounderful photo from mr.Mohammad reza Farhadi Aref on first page again, because it has a great potential of humanity, encounter, and contrast. so that, invite readers to challenge! best regards,*****
**** Will you please bring back this photo or alternatives to first page for more discussion and reviews. it has great potential for this purpose !
This photo has been so discussionable and great,if we could see 90 to 180 degree shots clockwise too, there would be better comprehension of creative power of Islamic designers for women in IRI.
IRAN islamic rep. is the center of disscussions in any field amoung the people of new world! because of strangeness of their acts, talks, ideas, programes, etc. which most of those back to 1440 years ago and represent contrariety with 21 century !
First of all thanks to Mohammad reza photographer, and 5 star for him, for opening free discussions in this site unwantedly and intelligently ! 5 stars for Mahan air, starting to change the atmosphere of personnels "not to be for men only" although, it is so pale and weak, while we see the high ratio vice versa in Holland as an example. And 5*****stars to self sufficient first officer for standing amoung men alone to say we the women are existing too! in an Islamic country where the men leadership is special, unic in the world, and very strong!!! Hope succeed for all...
Wow, this photo is onbelivable, how a lady can be a pilot in IRIRAN?
This is amazing that in Iran a lady with so many difficalty still have a pilot position.
I am too glad to see my sister s picture in this site . you are so talent and efficient ,i will always proud of you , you are the best women first officer in iran . (violet)
Amoung high number of comments for this unic photo, I feel exactly the commenter,s sympathy upon this young strugglist lady as a co-pilot in Mahan,IRI system. Is there any other Airlines in the free world to absorb such a great talented female pilot, to improve her elegance, powerty and make her free from tight side abnormal regulations in said country??? She will get 5 stars undoubtedly...
Stop COmplaining about her Cover anD her wearing stUff ! Under that COver there Is UnCountable amOunt Of talent,Ability,Power And Unbelievable Nights and Days Of effort tO reachin' to her Aim ! And Finally SHe's Flyin' ... trust Me , I'm just SOmeOne who have Impressed by Watching her tryin' & tryin' & never get Dissapointed , every mOment ! And Finally Her Dreams Came true... God bless Her & Best regards to her..!
You have to spend alot to learn being a pilot, in Iran. It is a more serioud problem rather than being a male or female,in my opinion as an iranian girl!
I am Iranian. I think this is the best picture. because I know that there are more limitation in Iran and it is difficult for a woman to become a pilot.Best of ragards.(Ali Aghaei)
Nice shot Aref jan... I don't know what to say...!!! 5*(Dani)
Great improvement for a woman in a country that its government does not recognize the equal rights for women in many aspects...
Proud of her... | |
When I read the headlines about the first female pilot in Mahan, I knew it must be Bahareh. Since she was born and up to now, she has been smart, strong, serious, focused and perfect to be the first in any filed, like aviation. She overcame more obstacle than any man could. This picture reflects that well. I am proud of my neighbor, years ago.
Good luck to all the flight crew!
Hey,this is our lovely girl Bahareh Bozorgzadegan who put her power and electronics BS in wardrobe and started aviation soon after she found it is possible to take part to related PPL & CPL classes in spite of parents disagreement ! she tried independently and didnt hesitate in her way to overcome the obstacles. finally she did and now is first officer of Mahan Air. Hope more success and long secure life for her.
What does make this photo attractive and disputable? we have seen so many cockpit photos, but we have not seen so many comments for those! refer to a nice photo with a swedish female captain in SAS, MC Donnell Douglas DC-9-82 on August 5, 2010 with the number of comments 5 only!? What does make above photo separate from other similar ones with 33 comments since now !? I think most of the commenters feel sympathy with the goal of the young female first officer and respect her struggles in the society, where we know the conditions more or less, and it is great.
Nice photo Mohammadreza. Thank you for sharing something a little bit different to the average a-net cockpit shot! I have been amused at the reaction of some commenters who have jumped to conclusions about the role of women in Iran, and particularly about their clothing. To the visitor from the Netherlands: the gold-coloured handles are cockpit evacuation devices located above the sliding cockpit windows. In the event of emergency, you open the window, grab a handle and jump out. A 10m steel tape attached to an inertia reel controls descent. I remember being surprised when I was lucky enough to join a CX A340 crew in the cockpit for approach and landing at Sydney. They briefed me on the evacuation procedure: open the window, throw out the rope and climb down! Old tech compared to the A300!
Amir from Iran: Dear Farhadi Aref;I think you shot the best subject to stimulate the visitors arguments regarding the competition of 50% of Iranians who are called women in society of Iran Islamic republic, with its unequal rules between different sexes!that is why ladies are eager to occupy any space in any fields as well as men do. repetition of such items and photos, will follow most comments and reviews for mutual understanding and better comprehension amoung visitors. You will get 5 stars rating for your intelligence!
Yeaaah! We can just say Congratulation Mohammad jan.. Terekundi hajiii!
Great shot Mohammad Reza, you have paid attention to a new and unic scene in cockpit which will be interesting all over the world.more focus to the main item which make this picture different, will be more appreciated and admirable.it is the challenge of the young lady in the country like Iran nowadays, where you ought to fight to earn your rights through so many limitations! Congratulation to the young serious 1st staff and her fellow workers all...
Thank you very much for this picture, caused to pay attention to the determined women for social activities against so many limitations arround them in Islamic republic of Iran.women who try to pass through different obstacles, shoulder to shoulder of the men!and usually their efficiencies are higher. I do not know what has been the policy? but one lady as a co-pilot and as a sample is astonishable but positive anyhow! regarding headscarf as a post modern symbol of islam,it acts as a head-phone filter too! But anyway, congratulation to pioneer co-pilot young lady and her company Mahan Air, to open more facilities to young women as a crew members in near future.and hope to see front face photos of such a resolved ladies indeed. 5* will be all right for both.
Its too bad that this lovely and talented young woman has to cover herself, regardless of the relegion.
Marvelous!this picture shows Classic to Modern, and the hard decission of Iranian women in different fields of social activities against concern limitations! Congratulation to the first femail co-pilot of Mahan Air, Bozorgzadegan Bahareh who is so serious, sever and well interested in aviation and hope more success, long safe life and happiness for her. & 4**** seems to be less for this young lady.
What are those gold colored handles on the upper left and right?
Guys, the face is not covered... Women only cover their hair in Iran. Perhaps a step forward for Iran! I really hope so!! 5 stars!!!
Okay so 'someone' is in the right seat but you can't tell me it's a male or female because it's hiding under all 'that'. One step forward but still so many steps behind. I don't care who's flying as long as they're sane and know their stuff.
Notice the Cigarettes right behind the captain's seat
With all respect, this is not an ordinary, every day situation.Never seen before here in Airliners Net. Must have been a long and hard way for this happy women to reach this privileged position. At least a great exception. And it must be a little strange for a captain to achieve a relaxed cockpit interaction having on his right side a first officer he will never see the face. If not shocking, at least a very polemic and different picture.
That is a phantasmagoria!thanks
Amazing Shot man ! I'm just so proud ,I did heard of IranAseman Airlines employing a female first officer , but haven't heard about Mahan...Could they become a Captain ? and how about IranAir ? will they approve female pilots ? Thanks for sharing .
The fabric of the hijab is very thin, like gauze or muslin - no problem hearing through it. They do the same with mobile phones, and never seem to have any trouble hearing. Well done her on becoming a FO!!
So glad to see her in the mahans airbus cockpit...Thanks dear mohammad reza ,good luck lady! (BRAVO) 5*&vote
Do not see anything shocking or special here. I bet you she will give the old guys a run for their money when I comes to knowledge and understand of the theory. Many ignorant people here do not understand other cultures and although the tradition is to cover their hair for women, this doesnot mean they will back down or are submissive. Also a lot of the comments here remind me about what I heard colleagues say when they first saw all black crews in Africa.
It's truly an admirable profession, regardless of the clothing, or gender, which some people here just can't get over!
Isn't having all that fabric between your ear and the headphones a bit....dangerous?
Very glad to see a woman in the cockpit of an Irania aircraft!
Great again dear mohammad reza ,, very nice shot Iman
Nice shot. Too sad that people here do not keep it professional and cannot tolerate religious beliefs of other nations. That lady with all the restrictions in her country has made it to the cockpit while we have no such restrictions in our countries. Well done guys!
Just very shocking to me, have mixed feelings, don't know if I laugh or if I cry ...
To the anonymous visitor who responded to the Argentinian: Iran requires women to wear the hijab - which is a head scarf - NOT veils. Their faces are never covered. Get over it. Different people have different cultures. Thank you Mohammadreza joon for sharing this excellent photo!
Thanks man for this picture
You're absolutly right about that we shouldn't discuss religion on this website. But this has nothing to do with religion. Its just demeaning towards woman to say you can be a co-pilot, but you have to cover your head. But i am glad for here that she doesnt have to stay home like in all the surrounding countries.
I wonder about CRM on this flight deck....interesting to see though.
Guess that some people will never be open and respectful. Maybe they should leave there safe little shelter sometime and taste the real world. I find it great that they are all enjoying their job and living/working the life as they want. Being a European living in the Middle-East I can tell you that some traditions are changing quickly, and in my mind for the better, but still you need to respect people that like to uphold them. Happy landing to all.
Now that's on my no-fly list for sure.
Congratulations, it is a great picture and very innovative.
Mashaallah!! So glad to see that women in Hijab get to chance to become pilots. Mashaallah! Greets, Hediye
I'm really happy to see this scene, having female pilots in operations. Thanks to Mahan Air for their good thoughts. Mohammadreza jan I hope to see your nice shot among top shots of today soon. -Shary
Good to see them behind the roll. Thanks
