This is the second prototype two seater which first flew on 18th October 1973 as a TF-15A, it was re-designated F-15B in December 1977. It is seen here wearing the markings of the joint McDonnell-Douglas / USAF test team which operated the aircraft between May 1974 and April 1975 at Edwards Air force Base. In 1979 it was converted to become the prototype F-15E Strike Eagle and first flew on 8th July 1980.
