XA-GIK (cn 10367) Getting ready for departure. Also two Mexicana DC-3's and a Boeing 247 (with opened nose section). Dedicated to my father's memory and to all aviation golden-era pilots and crews who were the pioneers of modern aviation. Photographed by my father at Balbuena Field. Original slide heavily scratched so I restored it.

Hey look at that sophisticated tower in the background. It looks ten years ahead of its time.

Exceptional photo! I spy a 2nd Boeing 247. With well over a dozen ground handlers and technicians in action, you can feel the dynamic. Thanks for sharing.

Excellent! Glad you clarified it is "a 247 w/ nose section open"; I was almost ready to say it was a Caproni jet! The quad-motor has square windows...are you sure it is a DC-4? Perhaps an early DC-6? -rsa 2010-05-07
