A visitor from France posted Fri February 1, 2008:Maybe some big things like this one can be just awesome. it gives an impression of lightness, as well as power, some kindof an ancient god. by saying that i think about the one who was lightning the sun every morning. it seems that it's in fact giving its strength to the sun, telling "i'm giving you light to share to the world.
A visitor from United States posted Wed December 12, 2007:This is perhaps the best example I've seen of imaging a jet-engine exhaust with the sun as a backdrop. The left-engine exhaust is rendered visible because rays of light from the sun are bent (refracted) by the exhaust so as to enter the camera lens. It is an example of what we now call the "schlieren" optical technique, in this case due to background distortion. The effect was first described by Robert Hooke in his famous book Micrographia, 1665. (Comment by Gary Settles, Penn State University.)
