OV-101 (cn OV-101) Space Shuttle Orbiter Enterprise (OV-101) emerges from the Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB) on the redesigned Apollo-era crawler transporter. After the launch of STS-2 (Space Transport System) the paint on the external tank was eliminated, saving approximately 600 pounds off its total weight.

A visitor from - posted Tue February 23, 2010: This is Enterprise being rolled out to Launch Pad 39A for fit checks prior to Columbia's delivery. I understand how the two Orbiter's may be confused but this is definately Enterprise. No big deal but just for the sake of accuracy.

A visitor from Mauritius posted Sun February 21, 2010: Interesting photo. I did not know that Enterprise rolled out to the pad. This is Columbia we see in that photo or a prepartion for STS-1. I remember following this as a kid. It seemed like sci-fi and now its almost over.
A visitor from - posted Sun February 21, 2010: I'm fairly certain that's Enterprise, not Columbia. Columbia had black chine tiles, and Enterprise had the gray-panel RCS jets. It's probably during rollout for fit checks before Columbia had actually finished construction.
